This week, NBC programming will go green.
GE and Al Gore will make a united front against greenhouse gas emissions this week, and they'll do it with a laugh. The former politician will appear on the GE sponsored television series 30 Rock this Thursday as part of NBC's Green Week; the week will feature green-themed show content and commercials promoting recycling, use of energy efficient
light bulbs, and other environmentally conscious practices.
Green Week happens every November when Green is Universal incorporates environmentally themed content across NBC Universal's multiple platforms. This year, NBC workers committed to the Green is Universal platform can live up to this week's episodes thanks to a TV Production Guide that Green Is Universal recently produced.
The production guide - a how-to guide for "going green" aimed at every member of any TV show's crew, from energy saving lighting options, to construction, to costuming and craft services - can help the shows stay green year round.
The participating stars also hope to inspire viewers at home to
go green.
In an online preview at NBC.com, viewers can see Days of Our Lives' Peter Reckell speak on behalf of energy conserving light bulbs. He advises viewers "if every family in the U.S. changed one incandescent light bulb to a
compact fluorescent, we'd save enough energy to light 7 million more homes," while giving that iconic Bo Brady smile. How can a soap lover resist?
