A pre-Oscar party celebrated stars efforts to go green.
In the aftermath of the Oscars, the Hollywood spotlight is focusing on winning stars like Sandra Bullock and Christoph Waltz. But in the days leading up to the big event, many stars took time out to celebrate initiatives to
go green that have been sweeping the film industry.
Matt Peterson, CEO of Global Green USA, hosted his Seventh Annual Global Green USA Pre-Oscar Party last week to let stars step out to support eco-friendly initiatives, reports the Huffington Post. Celebrity guests included Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Alba, Nia Vardalos and more.
The event - which had a green carpet - allowed attendees to speak about their green practices. For instance, Desperate Housewives' Maira Walsh shared that she changed all of the light bulbs in her home to
CFL bulbs. She also mentioned that she and fellow cast mates recycle on the set.
Walsh and the other stars who attended the Global Green USA event are part of a growing Ecollywood community that advocates the use of energy-efficient lighting.
According to the Mother Nature Network, Lucy Lawless, Matt Damon, Stanely Tucci and others have publically promoted the use of eco-friendly light
bulbs.
