Night driving is made brighter thanks to GE's Nighthawk Platinum headlamps
Driving at night just got a little brighter thanks to GE's Nighthawk Platinum headlamps. The new headlights are supposed to provide up to 90 percent more light for night time drivers.
GE's latest bulbs could be addressing an important social issue. In 2008, there were more than 5.8 million car crashes, with more than 1.6 million causing injury and 34,017 ending in death, reports Edgar Synder & Associates - a law firm representing injured people. Injury Board reports that more than four in 10 accidents occur at night, in spite of reduced traffic. Poor road lighting contributes to many of the accidents.
GE's Nighthawk Platinum headlamps have
halogen bulbs that produce a clean white light, and are supposed to illuminate the road significantly more than standard halogen headlights. One happy customer said, "On the road there is clearly a huge improvement. With the stock fixture these bulbs light up the whole road, left to right (both lanes) and as far as I can see!"
The lamps are also energy efficient, building on GE's commitment to producing high quality, energy saving light sources.
According to JustAuto.com, forecasts to 2013 show headlamp markets are steadily growing as consumers are paying more attention to the types of bulbs front-light suppliers offer.
