Recently, I was asked by a customer, "Which type of energy saving light bulb should I use?" My response was to use several different types, depending on where they will be. Mostly, the twist CFL will be the best, but floods and globe are appropriate elsewhere, for a better look. "Great!" she replied. "Now, which brand do YOU use?" Boom! What a question. Most people in the world probably don't even think twice about this, but I've seen what can happen when you buy a bad brand and have nothing but trouble. I've also seen how much some of the major brands cost, which can be considerably higher than others.
My answer to her was to buy Westinghouse compact fluorescents. It's a great brand with supreme quality standards and amazing after-the-sale service--something that matches up with my personal philosophy and eLightBulb's as well. Pricing is typically lower than other major brands, so she was also able to save some money in the process.
When I asked Westinghouse to summarize their CFL products, here's what they said:
"The increasing importance of energy efficiency has inspired Westinghouse Lighting to create CFLs with even longer life, more compact dimensions, higher CRIs, and increased lumens. These compact fluorescent lamps last up to ten times longer than standard incandescent lamps and consume up to 75% less energy. With excellent color rendition and a broad range of color temperatures, these CFLs provide a brilliant alternative to traditional incandescent and halogen light sources. Westinghouse’s economical and long-lasting CFLs come in a variety of wattages and familiar shapes for use in every room at home and in commercial applications.
With CFLs for every general lighting application, it’s easy to make the switch to CFLs and get the same warm, soothing light color as standard incandescent lamps while saving time, money, and energy."
Even though there are a lot of big, lighting industry words in there, the main thoughts are great: Westinghouse compact fluorescent light bulbs have a super long life, smaller size, great color rendering--things look vivid and rich under these lights, and a brighter light output than ever before.
