Why Can't I Use a Soft White Light Bulb in my Easy Bake Oven?

Why Can't I Use a Soft White Light Bulb in my Easy Bake Oven?

Classic Easy Bake Ovens require a specific kind of light bulb to get the most use out of the oven.

Why Can't I Use a Soft White Light Bulb in my Easy Bake Oven?

I know, this might seem like a weird blog topic, but we get asked this question a lot.  Some of the newer Easy Bake ovens don't even use light bulbs to heat the food cooked inside, but the older/classic ovens still call for a light bulb.

This is probably NOT one of the things you think of when considering a light bulb's use.  =)

The manual instructs the user to NOT "use a Soft White light bulb" to light the oven.  Since the Easy Bake oven does not always include a light bulb, it requires you to pick one up at the store.

So what is "Soft White"? Simply put, it is a special coating on light bulbs to create a muted, less obvious light source.  It is the most common "shade of white" that you see in households across the country.  The phosphor in a soft white light bulb diffuses the heat from the bulb.

The manual calls for a "Standard 100 watt bulb" -- what is standard?  Our recommendation for this would be either an  Frosted Bulb or a Clear Bulb.  Either of these bulbs should do the trick to effectively cook the food prepared in your Easy Bake Oven.
