Sylvania fluorescent light bulbs allow you to get phenomenal light output without having to provide significant energy usage. For a number of years now, the T8 Fluorescent bulb has been the standard product for offices, warehouses and more. T8 bulbs replaced the original T12 model, which resulted in increased light output and less energy requirements.
The T12 was a fluorescent tube that measured 1.5 inches in diameter, or 12/8th of an inch; hence the T12. The T8 then, is not as wide in the diameter, measuring just 1 inch. All fluorescent bulbs require ballasts to light properly, and T8 light bulbs can easily run on fluorescent T8 ballasts from Universal / Magnetek, Advance, Osram, Fulham and others. If you are looking at changing out T12 bulbs to T8s, you are in luck! Most T12 light fixtures can easily be changed over to convert to T8 bulbs, with just a few small modifications.
Not only do you save energy and increase performance by switching to T8 lighting, but the CRI (color rendering index) is vastly better than the old T12 model. CRI refers to the way your eyes perceive the color of a given light bulb. 100 would be perfect color rendering index. On T12s, the average CRI was 60-65 and with T8s, the CRI is improved to 75-90!
T8 fluorescent bulbs are the ideal products to increase light output, and reduce energy costs by architects, engineers and builders.Sylvania provides the best quality product at an affordable price; Sylvania also has many different color temperatures available in this model, including 3,000K (warm white), 4,100K (cool white), 5,000K (pure white) and 6,500K (daylight).
Sylvania continues to make these bulbs environmentally friendly, most recently by providing the ECO (Ecologic) stamp on their T8 lamps. These grouping of T8 bulbs are designed to meet the TCLP (Federal Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure) criteria.
As technology improves, so will the Sylvania T8 fluorescent bulb, as it continues to be the most popular lighting solution for offices and warehouses around the world!
