When it came time for the decorating of my oldest Daughters’ wedding, I was able to put my lighting background to work. We obtained bolts of chiffon trimming and began weaving it in and around all railings and banisters. Along with it we strung hundreds of clear miniature bulbs on white cord. The result was an ambiance that was event appropriate and very pleasing to the eye even though the wedding was during daylight hours. Those who have evening weddings or availability to dimming the general lighting can produce an effect that is near magical.
The primary obstacle is that most weddings are held at times other than the Christmas season and finding an outlet that sells holiday lighting during the off season is a bit tricky. Not only is it possible to purchase event lighting year round on our website, there is a substantial variety of strings for various applications you may want to consider for your next event.
It is difficult to beat the warm calm effect that the standard clear miniature bulb on white wire produces. I suggest you avoid the extra long sets of 300lts. These are actually 6 sets of 50 lights that are strung together as one. However, if one set of 50 goes bad, you would need to throw the entire 300 light string away. The standard plug in miniature strings come in a variety of sizes from 10, 15, 20, 35, 50 or 100 light strings.
Do you have tables where you do not want cords running to remote outlets? Do you have centerpieces you want to weave in some lights on? No problem here! There is now a 15 light, white wire, clear bulb, battery operated string set available. How about trimming the bunting on the tables with a cascade of lights? This is where the clear bulb on white wire icicle light set would come in handy. They are typically available in 100 or 150 light strings.
Although the majority of events use the clear (white) bulb on white wire, this is by no means exclusive. If there are earth tones used in centerpieces, there are brown wire sets available. Is it time to spice things up? Try the chili pepper strings. You might recognize these from the Jingle All the Way movie (1996) -- they surrounded the fireplace in the home of Ted Maltin (Phil Hartman) home. We actually supplied those lights for the movie!
Whatever your color needs are, you should be able to obtain them. Bulbs are available in Blue, Red, Green, Amber, Yellow, Teal, Purple, Clear and Frosted. If you are having a sports party, you can usually find your teams primary colors to enhance the party atmosphere.
As a rule, it is recommended to avoid motion or chasing lights as they tend to be distracting and create a hyper atmosphere. However, you may find exception to the twinkle light string set which can give an evening effect of fireflies.
Adding light to your wedding, reception or other event is a relatively inexpensive way to enrich both atmosphere and mood. Thanks to the internet, you can procure your lighting needs without having to leave the house.
