I just don't think enough people realize just how much fun you can have with light bulbs. Aside from breaking the glass and flaring the filament (*Do not do this yourself, it is very dangerous), what can they do that's so fun? Here are some good ones:
1) Black Lights - OK, this one is very popular at Halloween, but these ultraviolet bulbs can add a cool look for any party. Put a bunch in your existing light fixtures and put on a brand new white t-shirt, and listen to everyone "ooh and ahh" at the eerie, strange glow. I don't recommend these in the vanity fixture in the bathroom, because they don't really help with makeup application. (Or so my wife says)
2) Red, Green, or Yellow Lights - Put these in your track lighting or a bunch of smaller table lamps and watch your room transform from average to funky instantly. There's something about multi-colored lights that make people think "party" which naturally leads to fun.
3) Christmas Lights - Even if it's July, you can make use of miniature light sets. Only the red and green "only" sets may not work really well outside of Christmas. In fact, we've had many, many orders over the years for clear Christmas light sets for weddings and graduations.
4) Neon glow novelty lights - These are really, really cool and unique. It's hard to even describe them, but you've got to see them to beleive them. Search for "neon glow novelty" to find them.
