I was moving around some furniture in the basement last night and it occurred to me how depressing our basement looked. It always felt so dark and dreary. We don't have a walkout, so there is no sunlight coming into our family room. Our family room has looked dark and dingy for a while and last night while we were cleaning, I saw that one of the floods in the corner ceiling can was out.
I went to my stash in the furnace room and grabbed a 65 watt Westinghouse BR40 Flood Light. The moment after I screwed in the new bulb, our entire family room lit up! The furniture looked different and the walls and ceiling increased their light output by about 30%! It was incredible to me to see how much just one light bulb can make such a difference in a room, especially a room that has no natural daylight.
Here I am, surrounded by lights all day and I still somehow forgot to replace my burned out bulb. Now I have a great reminder of how powerful lighting can be in enhancing the mood in just one room!
