Hi, I'm Brian, I'm 34 years old, and I am a Disney Addict. Naturally, when given the opportunity to opine about light bulbs, my mind tries to meld the two topics into one lovely posting! =)
Walt Disney World in Florida is massive, and they are in the business of storytelling. Setting the scene and "feel" of the story is one of the reasons so many people enjoy visiting the Disney Theme Parks. Since I don't assume you've spent much time walking around Epcot or the Magic Kingdom looking at lighting, let me explain.
The Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most popular and most loved attractions in all of Walt Disney World and Disneyland combined. The ride takes you through a dark evening boat ride in the middle of a pirate assault on a coastal village. Left with that description, it doesn't really sound too complex, does it? Now, let me explain the ride again, this time with details.
As you sit down in your boat and turn the first corner in the river, you see flashes of lightning and eerie green light shining from the watery depths below you. There are two haunting eyeballs glowing in the hollow of a tree, watching as you trespass on this long forgotten route. After a plunge into pitch dark (and a plunge down a waterfall in the river), your boat enters a lagoon under the glitter of starry skies. The flare of cannons on your left and right imply that a fierce battle is taking place right before your eyes. And this is the just the beginning of the ride...
Disney makes good use of accent lighting to help create the mood of the story. Even though you may not be telling stories in your decor, I strongly recommend that you consider the possibilities that lighting can offer in setting the right mood in your home or office. You'll be amazed at the difference the right light bulb can make!
(*Incidentally, Walt Disney World partners with Sylvania for their light bulbs. The very same bulbs we offer here at eLightBulbs every day.)
