Sylvania PAR20 Daylight light bulbs are a new kind of halogen light bulb that
gives off a full spectrum daylight color. They have a special filter which
blocks out some of the yellows which prevent a true daylight color. Full
spectrum lighting has been a constant need for many types of industries which
need to be able to differentiate colors, and most of the time those were in the
fluorescent type of bulb. Sylvania has made these in a halogen flood light which
will be closer to this full spectrum daylight color.
The term full spectrum is most often used when referring to fluorescents that
simulate natural outdoor light. By definition, virtually all fluorescent light
bulbs are full spectrum in that they contain some of all colors in their
spectral range. But the Sylvania PAR20 Daylight bulbs aren't a fluorescent bulb
and therefore don't have the same type of light as fluorescent. The halogen
light is still most like an incandescent, but has the warmer tones filtered out.
However, the term full spectrum is primarily used when referring to those lamps
that fall into the white to blue/white color temperature range. Color
temperature is measured by a term called kelvin. 3000 kelvin would be a warm
tone color, 5000 kelvin would be a white color and 6500 kelvin would be a
blue/white color.
The Sylvania PAR20 Daylight bulbs is the same physical size as a regular PAR20
bulbs that you may be used to in many types of light fixtures. The PAR20 is a
small bulb and are not as large as many halogen flood bulbs available. You can
tell what kind of PAR lamp you have by measuring the distance across the widest
point of the bulb. The number after 'PAR' represents the number of eighths of an
inch the bulb diameter is. Therefore, PAR20 lamps are 2 1/2 inches across. PAR20 lamps are widely available from Sylvania, GE, Philips, Westinghouse, and most
other small bulb manufacturers. They have standard bases and are able to be used
indoors or outdoors. This means they can be directly exposed to rain or snow and
still function normally and they do not need to be covered by a light fixture.
This makes the PAR20 lamps very versatile and quite handy to use.
Sylvania generally calls their line Daylight and within that category are many
different configurations of light bulbs. Most of their Daylight incandescent
light bulbs use a blue phosphor coating. The variety ranges from standard light
bulbs to halogen called Daylight Plus. There are also Daylight appliance bulbs,
indoor floods and indoor/outdoor PAR floods. The Sylvania PAR20 Daylight floods
use neodymium in the glass. Sylvania also carries a 50/150 Daylight 3way for
those people who have a special fixture used for reading or variation of light
output.
If you are a company or individual that cares about the color of the products that
you have or the presentation of the product, then the Sylvania PAR20 Daylight
might be the right light bulb for you. Because it cancels out many of the
yellows that people find to be less than desirable, you'll get the natural color
of daylight which will bring out the colors of the products that you might have
to sell. And because this is a smaller lamp, it is sometimes used in cabinets
or display cases as well enhancing those areas. Home users will like this lamp for how it
makes their special decor come to life. All you have to do is screw in
this light bulb to get true color in the things you're trying to highlight. You
will also find the size of lamp used in track lighting for home, but also in
commercial buildings where there might be a lower ceiling. Either way,
you'll get the true color coming out and a better presentation of what ever your
trying to highlight.
From your local retailer to finer homes, you will most likely find a Sylvania
PAR20 Daylight lamp lighting your way. Many people also use these halogen PAR 20
bulbs for showcasing trophies, jewelry, art work, sculptures, etc. and when shown under
this light will appear more brilliant and will display a truer color.
