There are many different sources of light that Sylvania provides and here are a
few brief descriptions about each category of light.
Incandescent lamps are the type that were developed earliest of any of the other
kinds and is still important today. But Sylvania was involved in creating a
better incandescent light bulb which became what we know today as a halogen
light bulb. A halogen bulb has greater light output as it uses special
technology to recombine elements back onto the filament. This was
developed by the people at Sylvania and they've been a leader ever since in
halogen lighting technology. You'll see the difference when you light up a
halogen from us compared to some of the other brands. The light is
generally brighter and beam pattern is excellent. This can make a big
difference if you have many of these in a retail store or in some track lighting
in your home. You want to be able to have a great presentation of what
ever you have to highlight and with halogen light bulbs from Sylvania, you'll be
getting the best possible light for that space. In our online lighting store,
you'll find everything from MR16 to PAR halogen lamps that will fit almost any type of
recessed lighting or track. You never again have to sacrifice the light you need
just because the size of the bulb isn't right. We proudly stock this complete category of
Lately, people have been concerned about the kind of like that they're working
under or living under. That's why so many people are turning to what is
called full spectrum lighting.
The term full spectrum is most often used when referring to fluorescents that
simulate natural outdoor light. By definition, virtually all fluorescent light
bulbs are full spectrum in that they contain some of all colors in their
spectral range. Full spectrum fluorescents are a great option to get
better natural lighting, but so are the incandescent full spectrum. But the Sylvania Daylight bulbs aren't a fluorescent bulb
and therefore don't have the same type of light as fluorescent. The halogen
light is still most like an incandescent, but has the warmer tones filtered out.
However, the term full spectrum is primarily used when referring to those lamps
that fall into the white to blue/white color temperature range. Color
temperature is measured by a term called kelvin. 3000 kelvin would be a warm
tone color, 5000 kelvin would be a white color and 6500 kelvin would be a
blue/white color. Most of their Daylight incandescent light bulbs use a blue
phosphor coating. The variety ranges from standard light bulbs to halogen called
Daylight Plus. There are also Daylight appliance bulbs, indoor floods and
indoor/outdoor PAR floods.
Sylvania is also leading the way in fluorescent lighting with a complete line of
linear and compact fluorescent products for home or commercial use.
There's probably no broader line of fluorescent products in the industry that
have created a standard for many types used today. Sylvania is the
maker of the popular Dulux compact fluorescent which have been one of the best
products for reliability and innovation. Whether you have long fluorescent
tubes or small plug-in compact types, you'll find that we can supply you with
what you need from Sylvania. One of the ways that Sylvania leads is in
regards to the environment. They have developed fluorescent lamps which
use less mercury and therefore qualify for proper disposal. It's the Ecologic stamp that you'll see on Sylvania fluorescents that means it has a
lower mercury content.
If you've decided on Sylvania, you've made an excellent choice for good lighting
