This is a very common light bulb when it comes to applications were a lot of
light is desired in a very small space. It is sometimes known as a
high-intensity bulb and many people refer to it as such. It's a little unusual
in that it has an intermediate base which is also known as in E17 base.
This fits into certain types of light fixtures which are usually associated with
things like furniture or possibly china cabinets or applications that are
similar to that. It's been a popular choice of these kinds of
manufacturers for many decades and continues to be used in those type of
applications where this bright, intense light needs to be used. Sometimes
it's the only thing that can properly highlight what you need to show or display.
The internal parts have an unusual filament structure as well, which creates a
lot of light in such a small space. The reason people
often choose the 40S11 high intensity light bulbs are because of it's very small size and short overall
length as well.
The
wattage is 40 watt and sometimes called the 40S11/N where the "N" stands for
intermediate base. Although the intermediate is the most popular size of
base, there is also a candelabra base available as well for those particular
applications that are a little more unusual. The most common you will find
is the one we describe here. An S11 size denotes a round bulb shape and
these come in clear most of the time, but we also have the frosted version as
well.
For most furniture cabinets, they are used in recessed lighting
with a 2 inch opening and can be dimmed with a standard incandescent dimmer.
In many types of lighting applications, the dimming capability is what makes it
a wonderful choice for things that you may be highlighting adding an extra level
of expression. The places where the 40S11 high intensity light bulbs can
be used are endless and sometimes even includes table lamps as a popular option. Almost
anywhere that a small lamp is required with an intermediate base, the 40S11 light is a great
choice. They're really not that expensive and so you can stack up if you have
areas were use these a lot. Unlike some suppliers we have these in both
120 volt and 130 volt versions. The 130 volt 40S11 will give you longer
life than the other because it protects against power surges but the white will
be slightly dimmer. That's typical of anything that has a 130 volt rating
that you use in a 120 volt circuit.
