High Intensity Discharge light bulbs (HID's) are very common in warehouses, street lighting, and assembly plants. Metal Halide is the newest type, offering a good balance between high light quality and average life. Mercury Vapor bulbs and High Pressure Sodium bulbs are less common, although very prevelant in outdoor lighting, particularly in parking and street lights.
